MAEDA UNFAZED BY CELTIC INTEREST

Yokahama F. Marinos attacker Daizen Maeda is staying grounded despite the transfer reports linking him with a move to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.Maeda stated that his focus is on Yokohama Marinos in his latest interview monitored by The National newspaper in Scotland. According to him, he just wants to play and hopefully score goals for Yokohama.


Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou previously managed YokahamaMarinos in the J-League in Japan and he's said to be interested in Maeda who has been officially named the fastest player in Japan via J-League stats.
Maeda has been in very good form for Yokohama this season with 18 goals in 27 starts and his form has attracted the interest of Australian manager Postecoglou at Celtic. His last game for Yokohama was a 2-1 defeat at the home of Cerezo Osaka. Maeda failed to hit the back of the net during the game as he could not save his team from defeat at the hands of their hosts.


In the aforementioned interview, Maeda said that he's aware of the speculation linking him with Celtic but he's not paying attention to those reports and that his focus is getting goals in any match. He also talked about the need to get into the Japanese national team. Maeda wants to play for Japan in the qualifiers ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar. Japan are presently not in a strong position to qualify for Qatar 2022.
On his pace, Maeda said he didn't know about being the fastest player in the league until fans called his attention to it. He went on to talk about the origin of his speed. The Japanese footballer stated that he got the speed from his father and that he couldn't remember losing a race when he was a kid. Maeda talked about his earlier desire to be a sprinter.
