BURNLEY FAIL IN CELTIC DEFENDER BID

Premier League team Burnley have not been able to lure a Celtic defender away from the club. The Clarets want to bolster their squad with a new centre back and they have identified a Celtic player as the man for the job. The exclusive report from 90min disclosed that Burnley want to sign Celtic defender Jack Hendry, who has been out on loan in Belgium.

Jack Hendry is on loan at Belgian club KV Oostende from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic. It was revealed that Burnley failed with a bid for the player who made his debut for Oostende in September shortly after joining the club on loan. His debut came during the league game with Mechelen and he went on to find the back of the net during the game. Since then, Jack Hendry has been a regular for his Belgian team till date.

Earlier this month, a publication from 90min said that Jack Hendry was attracting interest from Premier League teams and Burnley have now taken things further by trying to sign him.Burnley might have a big issue in the quest to sign him since KV Oostende have the option to sign the player on a permanent deal when his loan contract ends. Burnley will have to convince the Belgian team to let go of the option of signing the player permanently. Oostende are sixth in the Pro league, the second tier of club football in Belgium. Apart from Burnley, the other Premier League teams like Brighton and Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa have an interest in the player. Bournemouth also have an interest in him. The Cherries suffered relegation from the Premier League last season and they are in the Premier League promotion picture in the second tier. Non-Premier League teams like AZ Alkmaar, Werder Bremen and Freiburg are also interested in the centre back.
