SAMARAS GOING?

Georgios Samaras might be leaving Celtic FC soon. The Spanish club Atletico Madrid and the Turkish club Trabzonspor are in race to secure his services and he is believed to be making his way to either of these two clubs in a few days’ time.

Atletico had been in touch with Samaras’ agent since a long time and the two parties had almost reached an agreement, but, just a couple of days back, Trabzonspor has come with a luring offer which has forced the Greek player to think a bit.

Samaras’ contract with Celtic is going to finish at the end of the ongoing season. He had been offered contract extension a few days ago, but, he didn’t accept that as he doesn’t want to continue playing in Scotland.

So, now, Celtic is looking to offload him before the deadline day of the mid season transfer window because in summer, they will not get any transfer fee for him.

According to the reports, Atletico Madrid is in no hurry at all. They are ready to wait for Samaras till summer because they know that they would be able to sign him on a free transfer then. But, Trabzonspor is desperate and it is understood that they have no problem in paying as much as 750,000 Pounds to Celtic as transfer fee.

Samaras himself would be more interested to go to Spain, but, it would not be that easy for him to reject the offer of Trabzonspor.

As far as Samaras’ tenure at Celtic is concerned, he had signed for the Scottish club 5 years back after leaving Manchester City. He has played close to 150 league matches for the Hoops so far and has found the back of the net 45 times.
