Lennon hopeful ofOdsonne Edouard staying at the club

Celtic club manager Neil Lennon has said that they are trying to convince Odsonne Edouard to stay at Celtic. The player has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window. Lennon has praised him to be the top-class striker in football. In the 2019–2020 season he has played in 27 games by scoring 22 goals.

With his performance, they were able to win the ninth title in the Scottish Premiership. The season was called off due to the spread of coronavirus and the title was awarded on a point basis. Edouard was awarded the golden boot in this season.

The 22-year old's performance has not escaped the eyes of the Premier League clubs. There have been many interests from the clubs and one of them is Arsenal. They have been highly linked with a move to him and Leicester City has also shown interest in signing him. Edouard has still two years of contract left and nothing has yet been confirmed regarding the transfer to other clubs.
Edouard will be bought for £30 million but Celtic has taken the charge to convince him to stay at Scotland. Arsenal former player Charlie Nicholas has backed up his club saying that Edouard's style of play is more suitable for Arsenal and he will be fitting right in the club.
Lennon has confirmed about having a discussion with Edouard's representatives. He says that he is a player who the club would want around and has become more prominent from the previous seasons. He also thinks that he is happy and has a good relationship with his teammates.
“He had a magnificent season this year and we want to keep him. It's as simple as that. We're doing everything we can to keep him here for at least another season anyway,” said Lennon.
The fans also love him on the field and for a player like him, there will talk of transfer surrounding him which is quite natural. Lennon said that but they are happy with the current position of the club with him.
