Winter transfer window is over and Gordon remained with Celtic FC
Craig Gordon of Celtic FC was one of the players of the Scottish club that was rumored to be making his way out of Celtic Park as the Premier League outfit Chelsea was interested in signing the 34 year old shot-stopper but now that the winter transfer window has reached it’s end, a transfer was never actually completed.
Chelsea launched an offer for the veteran goal-keeper in the final few days of the winter transfer window but Celtic FC rejected the offer and it was later believed that Chelsea was going to deliver an improved offer but it never happened.
The head coach of Celtic FC, Brendan Rodgers was never interested in selling Craig Gordon and the 44 year old Northern Irish manager made his voice be heard as Rodgers stated that if Gordon indeed decided to join Chelsea, he would be wasting the rest of his career as it mostly that Gordon would be on the sidelines serving as substitute to ThibautCourtois.
‘’He is a player that, with all due respect, when myself and my staff came in here he was a far cry away from what he is now as a goalkeeper’’
"He has gone away and worked on how we want him to play and has got himself into the team and has been absolutely brilliant, first class. I understand the lure of it and I also understand what it would mean for Craig to go there as a number two for the next two years and waste away his career in not playing games." Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers said.
It’s clear that Brendan Rodgers does not want to let go of Craig Gordon, which is a player that he has helped immensely in becoming the performer that he is today. Fortunately for him and for Celtic FC, a transfer was never completed and Gordon will be staying with the Scottish club for the foreseeable future.
