Lennon Praises Impact of New Signings After Cluj Win

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has argued that the club’s summer signings need time to settle and they should be moved quickly. The Scottish champions had a very busy summer transfer window after they brought in 11 new players. As many as five players were in the starting lineup when Celtic took on CFR Cluj in the Europa League. The Scottish champions were able to register a 2-0 victory and this is a major boost to the team’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the competition. Crucially, the victory witnessed a number of new signings coming to the fore with some impressive performances.

Boli Bolingoli, who is the club’s new left back, was able to provide an assist for Odsonne Edouard, who scored the opening goal. Mohamed Elyounoussi was able to score in the middle of the second half after recently arriving on a loan deal. The new players at Celtic helped the club beat a team who were responsible for crushing the Champions League dream in the qualifying stages. After the game, Lennon urged his team to avoid complacency and he also admitted that the team was showing a lot of potential. Even though Celtic have had a strong run so far with just one loss in 19 games across all competitions, they are yet to hit peak form.

"Sometimes you need to be patient. In the modern game players get written off after 45 minutes of football.Players have to adapt to the expectations which are sometimes a little bit different. Some of them took a bit longer than others, which is natural. Now we're seeing them in full flow and they're showing that they're good players at a very high level. The game is dangerous. It is a difficult tie, Livingston away," said Lennon. Celtic are hoping to reach the knockout stages of the European competition for the first time since 2012-13.
